Excessive play on slippery surfaces

Home-raised puppies are very often subjected to excessive play on slippery surfaces, which puts the joints to the test, causing loosening of the ligaments and joint capsules.

Excessive movements, excessive jumping

it is common for a newly purchased puppy to be urged to play and run due to the enthusiasm of the owner who often ignores the consequences of such solicitations.

Nutritional errors, both as a deficiency and as an excess

The correct nutrition must have the following characteristics:

• It must be complete – therefore it must provide adequate quantities of all necessary nutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals)
• It must be balanced – the nutrients must be present in the correct proportions
• Must be digestible: A pet must be able to digest food and absorb nutrients

Protein quality

The quality of the protein is much more important than the quantity.

Proteins are the most important food component for a dog, especially a puppy, because being, due to its age, a subject that moves very, very actively, it needs a constant replacement of the muscle and tendon components.

Calory intake

Excess of energy during growth does not cause fat accumulation but accelerates growth. While in the adult dog an excessive caloric intake translates into an increase in fat mass, in the puppy an excessive caloric intake translates into increased growth regardless of whether the excess energy comes from proteins, fats or carbohydrates.

Vitamins and minerals

Vitamins and minerals play an essential role in the growth of puppies. With a few exceptions, most vitamins cannot be produced by the animal’s body and must be supplied with food. Calcium and Phosphorus

Puppies and cats should receive the correct amount of calcium and phosphorus through their diet.

The calcium absorption mechanism is not fully mature in growing puppies, so most calcium absorbed from the diet enters the body through passive absorption in the small intestine. This means that a puppy cannot limit the absorption of excess of calcium that is given to it.
